Miranda’s Kaleido-Modular is the most space and energy efficient multi-viewer

Montreal, Canada - September 15, 2009

"Traditionally, power and space issues have been very important for production trucks, and the Kaleido-Modular multi-viewer is especially well suited to this market," says Marco Lopez, Senior Vice-President - Interfacing, Monitoring and Control, at Miranda.

"However, it’s now clear that energy issues are being taken very seriously across all types of broadcast facilities, and this is driving equipment vendors like Miranda towards more power efficient designs."

Kaleido-Modular uses a card based design, with each module providing eight 3Gbps/HD/SD video inputs (with 3D support), and two multi-viewer outputs. Up to 10 multi-viewer modules can be housed in a 3RU Densite 3 frame, which weighs just 8.6Kg (19lbs) when fully populated.

The super-silent Kaleido-Modular multi-viewer offers outstanding picture quality, using the same scaling technology as Miranda’s top of the range Kaleido-X processor. Each multi-viewer module can be configured to provide either dual quad-split outputs, or a single multi-viewer output which can display up to eight pictures.

Kaleido-Modular features tight integration with NVISION, and third party routers, to allow expansion up to 1152 video inputs and up to 288 multi-viewer outputs. This represents the very largest combined routing and multi-viewer system available.

Combined routing and multi-viewer systems can be controlled using one or more RCP-200 remote control panels, which feature a highly graphical interface with two touch screen displays.

Kaleido-Modular cards can be installed in a 3RU Densite 3 frame alongside any of the other modules in the comprehensive Densite range, which includes signal processors, DAs, switches, monitoring probes, IRDs, and channel branding processors.

The Densite 3 frame is highly resilient, with dual hot-swappable power supplies and fans, and a redundant Ethernet. Kaleido-Modular cards are also hot-swappable and feature Auto-recovery, which instantly configures ‘cold’ replacement cards during maintenance.
